The C20 HVAC contractors license exam manual briefly covers the major topics of the State exam including Properties of Air and Water, Psychrometric Charts, Basic HVAC Formulas, Basic Electrical Formulas, Electrical and Insulating Materials, Soldering and Brazing, Electric Motors, Fuels and Refrigerants, Mechanical Refrigeration, Solar Energy, and Plan and Circuit Symbols. The manual also contains summaries of the Uniform Mechanical Code. The last section of the HVAC Manual covers the Health and Safety Orders.
The Math Review Lecture covers the math formulas in the first part of the HVAC manual. The HVAC (C-20) lecture cover the topics addressed in the manual specific to the C-20 trade exam. The Health and Safety Lecture covers the Health and Safety Orders at the end of the HVAC manual. The HVAC Review Questions Lecture covers the HVAC Review Questions in the back of the manual.
Please be sure to study all of the practice exams. It is important to read and understand each question, and read every word of the explanations. It is necessary to learn the principles behind the question because the State’s questions may be worded differently. Do not memorize the sample practice exam questions.
This is a multiple-choice examination with four choices per question. Some questions require mathematical computation. Examination questions are written to provide only one BEST answer and are NOT written as trick questions.

A C20 (HVAC) warm-air heating, ventilating and air-conditioning contractor fabricates, installs, maintains, services and repairs warm-air heating systems and water heating heat pumps, complete with warm-air appliances; ventilating systems complete with blowers and plenum chambers; air-conditioning systems complete with air-conditioning unit; and the ducts, registers, flues, humidity and thermostatic controls and air filters in connection with any of these systems. This classification shall include warm-air heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems which utilize solar energy.
