The C50 Reinforcing Steel Contractors license exam manual briefly covers the major topics of the State exam including Bar Fabrication, Bar Identification, Welded Wire Fabric, Concrete Protection, Welding Reinforcing Steel, Welding Symbols, Pre-Stressing and Post-Tensioning, and Tying Bars.

Testing Strategy:

Please be sure to study all of the practice exams. It is important to read and understand each question, and read every word of the explanations. It is necessary to learn the principles behind the question because the State’s questions may be worded differently.

Do not memorize the sample practice exam questions. This is a multiple-choice examination with four choices per question. Some questions require mathematical computation. Examination questions are written to provide only one BEST answer and are NOT written as trick questions.

There is no penalty for guessing. If you are unsure about a particular question, it is better to try to answer the question than to leave the question blank. Ample time is provided to answer all examination questions, so be sure to read each question and its four choices completely and carefully before selecting the BEST possible answer to the question.

The license guru course material was very well put together. The videos paired with the simulated exams were excellent. I simply watched all course videos once, and took the simulated exams until I passed all exams with a 90%. I went into the state exams unsure of how I would do, but by the end of the test I knew I would pass. The course prepares you for the ambiguous nature of the states test questions. I would highly recommend this course. The price is far better than any other courses, and the customer service is excellent. 5 stars!

Hiring the Guru was the best decision I made in the process of getting my B-general license. Personally, I had ZERO interaction with the CSLB throughout the entire process, which is fine by me. After going through the process, I really feel like filling out the paperwork myself would have only created problems for myself with the CSLB.

Phil is literally amazing my husband took his test in April and quickly submitting all his documents, fingerprints, bonds, asbestos you name it. We called after a month has passed wondering why his license hasn’t been issued and we would get the same response from every “you have everything just wait, it will be issued soon”… come August 14 and still nothing. So frustrating. I gave one call to Phil and that same day less than 6hrs later and my husband was issued his license number. Wow ! If you have any issues I highly recommend contacting him and using his services. We could have probably never been issued the license (that’s how we feel) someone must of dropped the ball somewhere. I had a reasonably complicated State Licensing Board issue, something a little beyond the comfort level of your regular person. Passed exams on my first try C-33 & Business Law
Called on 4/13 placed my order with Phil he answered any and all questions I had and offered to help submit my application to the Cslb when I was ready

I went through all study material 3-4x

Received response from cslb on 5/16 Application Fee Number & Personal Identification Number (PIN)

I purchased the cslb law and business book ( waste of$$)
I purchased Builders Books ( out dated and a waste of $$$)
If not for Phil and his study materials I would have not passed my exams, cost $432
I know friends and family that paid and went to a contractors school for $2500-$3200 and they didn’t receive the help and services that I got from Phil

I was recommended by friend of mine to contact Phil to fill my application for general contractor license and to do all paperwork necessary to summit the application to the CSLB.
so I did contact Phil and from that moment on Phil work with me in all the information needed to summit the application.

Amazing wealth of knowledge in Contractors License matters. I reached out to Mr. Cocciante, with some concerning questions, regarding my own application for license. Having already started the process of becoming a Lic. Contractor, Phil walked me through my areas of concern, step by step. Twice he did this, once on a Sunday evening, then again on a Saturday evening. He knows the CSLB subject matter thoroughly. I offered payment for his time. The Business and Law book's information was spot on. I passed the test on my first try. The questions were literally right from the pages in the book. I did not have time to do any practice tests and still passed on my first attempt.
The Trade book provides a decent amount of info as well. But a lot of your knowledge comes from working in the trade. You still have to use your head on the exam and think about what the question is asking you. My first attempt I did not do any practice flash cards or tests and I FAILED the exam by 7 questions.
I retook the test 2 weeks later. I studied for 2 full days; reviewed 400 flash cards questions, and re-read the book. This time the exam just felt easier because I was more prepared. I was fully confident when I hit the "score my exam" button, and I PASSED!

Pros:
good material, 12 month access to do the online study, (longest out of any contractor school)

Cons:
no cellphone app, have to sit at a computer to use their DVDs/CDs to follow along in the book
