The C-51 Structural Steel contractor’s license exam manual briefly covers the major topics of the State exam including Designation of Steel Members, Rigging, Steel, Fasteners, Welding, Trusses, and Cranes and Derricks. The manual also includes summaries of the Uniform Building Code. The last section of the Structural Steel Manual covers the Health and Safety Orders.
The Math Review Lecture covers the math formulas in the first part of the Structural Steel manual. The Health and Safety Lecture covers the Health and Safety Orders at the end of the Structural Steel manual.
Please be sure to study all of the practice exams. It is important to read and understand each question, and read every word of the explanations. It is necessary to learn the principles behind the question because the State’s questions may be worded differently.
Do not memorize the sample practice exam questions. This is a multiple-choice examination with four choices per question. Some questions require mathematical computation. Examination questions are written to provide only one BEST answer and are NOT written as trick questions.
There is no penalty for guessing. If you are unsure about a particular question, it is better to try to answer the question than to leave the question blank. Ample time is provided to answer all examination questions, so be sure to read each question and its four choices completely and carefully before selecting the BEST possible answer to the question.
A C-51 structural steel contractor fabricates and erects structural steel shapes and plates, of any profile, perimeter or cross-section that are or may be used as structural members for buildings and structures, including the riveting, welding, rigging and metal roofing systems necessary to perform this work.
